Wearing braces is NOT a trend

I came across this kid who said to her friend that "Oh I wear braces because it's the trend, not because my teeth needs correcting. I cabut 4 gigi sakit gila but what to do, that's the price of beauty. My siblings semua pakai braces but I pakai sebab saje je, I don't need it. You tak nak pakai? It's nice and cool."

LOL, nasib baik ni budak baru habis SPM, budak kecik lagi. First of all kid, you're just saying that because you feel insecure. Braces makes everyone look ugly, macam Ugly Betty tu, it is not a trend. You are wearing braces because you teeth needs correcting otherwise the doctor wouldn't have recommended it, especially bila you buat at government clinic and they do have other patients with deal with. I wore braces for 3 years and I assure you that I  do need it otherwise I wouldn't wanna spend 5 grand just because it's the trend. You are probably feeling insecure because braces makes you look ugly and it's hard to maintain, sakit all the time especially after tightening, you're prone to bad breath if you don't brush properly and you're just trying to convince yourself that you're wearing it because of the trend and try to make your friend believe that you're having fun wearing braces, boleh tukar colour la, cantik nye rainbow on your teeth. Face it kid, your teeth needs correcting and it's definitely not a trend. Even if it's a minor case.

Not to mention that it's a lifetime commitment where RETAINERS FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE or your teeth will move. And when the doctors cabut your teeth, he/she alters the alignment of your teeth and at the end of the treatment maybe you have to wear ppermanent retainers so that the teeth won't move. It's been two years since I took off my braces and I wore my retainers once a week (before sleeping) and I've ordered 3 retainers this past two years. Left the first one at a restaurant, the second one was worn out where the steel broke as I put it on my teeth and the third one is the one I'm currently wearing. And retainers will cost you about RM250 each, in my case I need two for my upper and lower teeth so about RM500 every 2 years considering the retainers can last that long for the rest of your life!
